Rejection is simply described as the act of refusing or dismissing something, Rejection can be experienced in different situations, especially from families, friends, colleagues, or in any organization. In fact, some people have described the sense of shame, anger, trauma and isolation that have resulted from rejection. Therefore, when rejection happens it’s important not to take it so personally because if you're too busy reacting to the offense you'll miss the message behind it. Sometimes some of the life’s lessons are best learned from rejection, thus it may be the only way life gets our attention that what we were trying to force wasn’t meant for us in the first place, better is in store for us. I don’t know how many people out there have some big ideas or dreams they want to make a reality, whatever you are trying to do there is definitely going to be people that will tell you “No” and of course with every ‘’No” It’s going to feel harder and harder to get back up. You might have had several sleepless nights writing emails, composing text messages, making phone calls and people telling you “No” over and over again, in fact, every time you log on to your email or read your text messages it’s the same “No”. Therefore, due to all these rejections, it’s very easy for you to start imagining, they don’t believe in me, they don’t like my ideas, they don’t trust in my dreams and vision, the truth is I have a good news for you. Be thankful for the rejections, this is due to the fact that all the “No” have made you who you are today, they have made you stronger and grown Into the man or woman you are today, thus, you have to be thankful for people that reject you. I will like to share the story of Mr. Ma Yum, who is professionally referred to as Jack Ma. A Billionaire who was born and raised in China, the founder and executive chairman of Alibaba Group, a successful internet based family business. This man described how he was rejected several times, firstly, when he was a little child he failed all three attempted examinations for admission to his primary education, Secondly, he failed the middle school examination three times and in fact during his days there was only one middle school in his province back then in China and also when he was trying to get into the University he failed all three attempted examinations, Harvard University rejected his application more than ten times. Thirdly, when he was applying for several jobs he described how he was rejected for hundreds of jobs, one of those he recalled when KFC opened a branch at his province in China out of the twenty-four applicants that applied for the job he was the only one rejected. This man never gave up, could you imagine that despite all of his rejection he decided to try something new without the fear of rejection, this time he went into business, in fact, he started the business with a sum of twenty thousand U.S dollars that his wife and friend helped him raise, and today he is the first main line entrepreneur in China to be featured on the cover of Forbes magazine, he is the richest man in China and the Eight richest man in the world with an estimated fortune of 29.7 Billion Dollars. Therefore, the moral of the story is you have to get used to rejection, don’t get discouraged, keep your dream alive, never give up on your dream because of rejection, inspired yourself, read motivational books, keep good company, don’t complain instead look for opportunities. Your success is closest than you think. So when people reject you, don't get mad, and stop trying to prove yourself to people who reject you because sometimes their "no" is a "yes. You deserve better" than settling for seconds ABOUT THE AUTHOR Francis Olaoluwa Ogunleye, MD, is a Medical Doctor/ Author who lives In Los Angeles, California. U.S.A.
